Police Block Refugees From Hungary Train Station

8e539729fc3a497288e4729b49e00ea9_18

Hungarian authorities have blocked refugees from entering Budapest’s main train terminal in an apparent attempt to prevent them from heading towards Austria and Germany – despite letting others travel onwards just hours earlier. Aljazeera reports:

About 1,000 people were gathered outside the capital’s main international railway station on Tuesday morning, with many heard shouting “Germany, Germany” – where they are hoping to travel.

Al Jazeera’s Andrew Simmons, reporting from the rail station, said long lines of police were blocking all access to the station for refugees, adding that a few residents and tourists were allowed to enter.

“The crowd is angry and frustrated. They are sitting down, tired and desperate. Many have bought tickets for their families at large costs … not knowing if they will ever use [them],” Simmons said.

Before being blocked from access to trains, thousands of refugees made it to Vienna and Munich over the past few days. Police in Vienna said 3,650 refugees had reached the city on Monday, representing a new daily record. Austrian authorities appeared to have given up on trying to apply European Union rules by filtering out refugees who had already claimed asylum in Hungary, train passengers said.

How Parradang Encouraged Indiscipline, Corruption In NIS – Ex-Minister Moro

Paradang-and-Moro-The immediate past Interior Minister, Comrade Abba Moro, yesterday said he was not responsible for the predicament of the former Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mr. David Parradang.
Parradang was first suspended from office by President Muhammadu Buhari for illegal recruitment of about 1600 immigration staff. While on suspension, his replacement, Kure Martin Abeshi, was announced.
Both Moro and Parradang were last year enmeshed in controversy when some job seekers were killed and several others injured at a poorly organized recruitment exercise by the NIS.
Despite the tragedy and calls from majority of Nigerians for the duo’s sack, the former administration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan left them in office.
In his first public statement since he left office in May, Mr. Moro said the rot in the service is a result of Parradang’s leadership disposition, which according to him, encouraged and promoted gross indiscipline.
He also expressed shock at recent reports attributing the rot in the immigration service to him, saying, “It was purely an attempt to divert the attention of the public from the issue of illegal recruitment carried out under his watch”.
Moro’s statement read: “As Minister, I introduced various reforms to curtail corruption in the Nigeria Immigration Service. At various fora, I never lost the opportunity to point out the rot in the Immigration Service. When four Public Relations Officers (PROs) of four companies based in Lagos complained of being fleeced via Expatriate quota implementation by the Nigeria Immigration Service, I set up a committee on abuse of expatriate quota administration. Mr. Parradang frustrated the committee. When complaints of certificate forgery were raised, I set a committee on Certificate forgery. Again, Mr. Parradang frustrated the committee.
“Across the Services in the Ministry of Interior, several serving officers have been found to have corrupted themselves, have been investigated, some dismissed and handed over to the Police for prosecution; some found guilty, some jailed in the Civil Defence, Prison and Fire Services. A very senior officer of the Federal Fire Service who collected money of close to one hundred million naira only (#100,000,000) was investigated, found guilty for extorting money from unsuspecting members of the public for job and was handed over to the Police for prosecution. Yet an officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service under Mr. Parradang’s watch, who was found guilty of a similar offence was shielded despite repeated directives for action against him.
“It is pertinent to ask here; what has promotion/posting got to do with the present issue of illegal recruitment by Mr. Parradang and his Presidential Committee and Mr. Parradang’s insubordinate refusal to reverse the illegality as directed by a competent authority? What has Abba Moro got to do with that? In his paranoid desire to always disobey the Minister’s instructions, perhaps, Mr. Parradang thought I was still Minister giving instructions.
“Did Abba Moro go away with Mr. Parradang’s thinking cap? I am certainly not responsible for Mr. Parradang’s present predicament. I will not certainly allow myself to be a pawn in Mr. Parradang’s cynical strategy to cover up his leadership inertia”.

4 Reasons Marrying Someone For Good Looks Is A Really Bad Idea

images (13)

We all know that marrying someone for their looks is not the best idea. But why? Being attracted to someone is important in a relationship. If you have no physical attraction to a person, then you probably will not be interested in a romantic relationship, no matter how witty or charismatic they may be. But if we only base our relationship on how a person looks, we are likely to face a lot of problems in the future. Here are a few.

1. Looks fade

Let’s be honest; we all know that the possibility of someone keeping their good looks for all their lives is not guaranteed. Sure, there are some people who just look better with age, but there are others that do not. Wrinkles come, hair recedes, skin sags and there are lots of other physical effects that come with aging. When you marry solely based on looks, you may be disappointed with how someone changes over time. It is the love and bond you develop for a person’s whole personality that allows you to keep the flame alive long after the physique fades.

2. A person’s personality matters

Personalities really affect how a person looks at you. If someone is the most gorgeous person on earth, but they have the worst personality, you may not see them as attractive at all. Think about that bully growing up, or a person who just really rubs you the wrong way. Do you find him or her attractive? Other people may see him or her as handsome or pretty, but because you know how his or her real personality, it may be impossible to see past the bitter remarks or disrespectful behavior. Get to really know a person before you decide he or she is the one for you. Your initial attraction to outer appearance may change when you see how he or she is on the inside.

3. Chemistry is more than skin deep

Chemistry consists of the ingredients that make up your evaluation of a person. How he or she looks, smells and behaves makes up the overall chemistry you have with him or her. You may think a person is physically attractive with and attractive personality, but if there is no spark when you kiss or hold hands then he or she may not be the one for you. It is also important for you to meet who you are dating in person. If you only communicate over the phone or online you are not getting the entire picture. Even video chatting leaves some realities out (a smell you just cannot stand, for example!). These things may seem petty or superficial, but this is the person you are possibly going to spend the rest of your life with. You need to have chemistry.

4. Unexpected things happen

Besides the natural aging process, there are other things that may happen to a person that is beyond his or her control. Perhaps an accident leaves him or her with a deformity, or a fire leaves scars. Even getting pregnant and having children will change a woman’s body. If you were with someone solely for his or her body, you would no longer have a reason to stay. Truly seeing someone’s beauty, and loving him or her for it, does not fade through these changes. In fact, in the face of tragedy, your relationship can and should become stronger. This is when you need each other the most. The person you marry should be someone you trust enough to love you for who you are, not just what you look like.

There are no guarantees in life, including a person keeping his or her good looks throughout his or her lifespan. Time, unexpected events and circumstances may affect a person’s looks. It is incredibly shallow and arrogant to think a person will never change over time, including yourself. Loving a person for his or her whole package — personality, behaviors toward you and others, and even his or her little quirks — is what keeps a relationship strong.

Farmer hides 100,000 yuan underground, finds it rotten 4 years later

A man surnamed Zhang in Muyang county of east China's city of Suqian, Jiangsu province  took a bag of damaged, rotten bills worth 100,000 yuan (15,700 U.S. dollars) to a local bank for possible replacement. According to Zhang, for reasons unknown, his mother buried the money under their kitchen floor after wrapping it in a plastic bag and sealing it in an iron box over four years ago.

This summer when her son Zhang was preparing to get married, she recalled the stashed cash and requested her family dig the money out, only to find a heap of severely mutilated notes. According to him, "My parents were frozen at the site. It was their life savings over years of hard work in the cities. They just can't accept the loss."

Managers at the bank were surprised to find the notes reduced to a load of rotten, clamped-together lumps. A mutilated currency expert in the central bank's local branch examined the notes and said that he bills can hardly get redeemed. However, he claimed he would try to seek better solutions, saying "After all, it's a lot of money, and we hope to help the Zhangs minimize their loss."

5 Daily Habits That Harm Tour Teeth

Bad Habits

Even without realising, you may be harming your teeth, say dental health experts.

Simple and innocuous daily habits may in the long run prove to be detrimental for your teeth. Are you making any of these mistakes?

– Very often people tend to mindlessly chew on their pens while working. This will erode the tooth enamel and cause pain in the long run. Make a conscious effort not to put that pen in your mouth no matter how absent minded you are. Ask someone who sits next to you to point it out in case you can’t remember.

– Do you like to nibble on ice cubes? Apart from getting a cold, you’re also harming your teeth when you do this. When you try and bite into frozen bits of ice, there is a high possibility of you cracking or chipping your teeth. Doing this might also affect the soft tissues over time in your mouth causing you distress when you eat your food.

– If you tend to grind your teeth in your sleep — and experts say that is a far more common problem than people realise — you need to wear a mouth guard at night. This will protect your teeth against wear and tear. The same mouth guard should also be worn when you play certain sports. You rather wear it and look silly than lose a tooth and look sillier!

– Another thing that might cause harm to your teeth is a tongue piercing. As fashionable as you think they look, they can cause your tooth to crack if it comes between your teeth.

– Are you a regular candy eater? Make sure that you’re extra diligent when it comes to brushing your teeth later on. Sticky candy tends to get stuck on your teeth and remain there for days and causes cavities if you don’t make extra attempts to remove it.

– The next time you find yourself looking for a scissor and then going ahead and using your teeth for the same job, do yourself a favour and take that extra effort to look for that scissor. Your teeth were made to chew, not open plastic packets. Be gentle with your teeth and you will be grateful in the long run.

It’s Science: The Weirder You Are, The More Likely You Are To Find Love

blackcouplehugging

Sometimes it feels like we’re all trying to uncover some perfect secret formula that we think will help us find love.

We believe there’s something wrong with us. We tell ourselves if we just lost this much weight, if we just liked this kind of music or if we just stopped behaving in this way, we’d find “The One.”

We pick ourselves apart, treating all of our unconventional qualities like flaws that need to be changed. It’s as if the formula lies within us, and we just have to hate ourselves a little bit in order to uncover it.

But we’ve been doing it wrong all along. There’s no magic secret formula to finding our soulmate.

In fact, if there’s any secret formula at all, it actually involves embracing those unconventional qualities we keep trying to hide.

Scientific American reports a recent uplifting study from Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin that shows that both men and women prefer to date nonconformist people — people whose clothes, opinions and life decisions don’t follow the “norm.”

Before the study, it was predicteded that women would like weird men more than men would like weird women, but it turns out that’s not true. Weird people are appealing across the board.

Matthew Hornsey, lead author of the study and social psychologist at the University of Queensland in Australia, told Scientific American:

The old-fashioned gender stereotype — that men go for conformist, submissive women — has been slow to die. I’m intrigued by the notion of the ‘girls’ night out’ and how many women feel as though they can be more unguarded without men around — more relaxed, more crass, more honest, more funny. And I keep thinking, ‘Why are you keeping this good stuff to yourselves? Men would love it!’

So, the best way to find love really is to just be weird.

This makes sense. After all, weird people have way more to offer to the world than so-called “normal” people, who conform to conventional standards and don’t know how to think for themselves.

Weird people know themselves very well.

Weird people have spent their whole lives actively going against the grain. Because of this, weird people have probably, at some point in their lives, experienced some kind of backlash for being who they are.

They’ve had to learn to fully accept their quirks and idiosyncrasies, since the rest of the world wasn’t going to.

Through this process of acceptance, they’ve gotten to know themselves very well — they know what they want and what they don’t want in a partner, and they aren’t willing to settle for anything less.

Weird people are unapologetically themselves.

Weird people are authentic.

They couldn’t care less about trying to be cool or following trends, so they never hesitate to be their full unconventional, weird-a*s selves.

This kind of authenticity is deeply attractive. Nobody wants to feel like the person he or she is dating isn’t being honest. Weird people are honest by default. It’s in their blood.

Weird people make other people comfortable.

Weird people are uninhibited in who they are, and they inspire other people to do the same, too.

They create a safe space for misfits and unconventional qualities, encouraging people around them to embrace their weird traits and be their true authentic selves.

Weird people have more fun.

Weird people don’t let other people’s judgments stop them from having fun. They aren’t afraid to let loose and be unrestrained in their eccentricity — two traits that allow for a guaranteed good time.

This makes weird people wonderful romantic partners. They’ll be great at weddings, entertaining at family parties and just plain enjoyable in everyday life.

Weird people offer something different.

Any two people can have the same favorite movie or TV show in common as the foundation for a romance.

It’s easy to find someone who also listens to The Weeknd, who has also been to California or who also loves music festivals.

But weird people offer qualities that aren’t as easy to find. They’re special. They provide an interesting perspective on life.

They challenge everything you’ve ever known to be true by enlightening you with their one-of-a-kind wisdom.

3 Ways To Be An Amazing Wife

Happy couple

3 simple ways to be a better wife

1. Give respect to your husband

We husbands don’t like to admit it, but we are absolutely desperate for your respect! When we believe that you believe in us, we feel like we can conquer the world, but when we believe you don’t believe in us, we can barely get through the day. Even in those moments when your husband doesn’t “deserve” your respect, give it anyways, and your actions will actually help shape him into the courageous man of character God intended for him to be.

2. Create a positive tone in the home.

More than any other person in the house, the wife has the power to set the tone in the home, so set a good one! Foster an atmosphere where encouragement, laughter, discipline, hard work, fun, love and grace all flow together in harmony.

3. Fall in love…with God!

The more you love God, the more capacity you will have to love your husband, your kids and yourself. Make your relationship with Him the foundation of your life and everything else will fall into place.

Why I Banned Adverts Celebrating My Birthday – Shettima

kashim-ShettimaGovernor Kashim Shettima of Borno State on Monday appealed to his political appointees, associates in the All Progressives Congress, APC, foreign and local contractors having dealings with the state, kinsmen, former colleagues in the banking sector as well as friends in different parts of the country, not to place any advertisement on newspapers, magazines, television, radio, online and social media platforms to congratulate him on his 49th birthday tomorrow (Wednesday).
He said the plea for a quiet commemoration of his birthday was to honour the memory of too many Borno citizens killed by Boko Haram insurgents in recent and previous attacks as well as the need to honour his late deputy, Zannah Mustapha who died on August 15, 2015, less than three weeks ago.
Mr. Shettima placed the ban in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Isa Gusau, yesterday.
The governor also sought the understanding of media houses that could have anticipated revenue for his 49th birthday with apologies, especially to those he said had distributed letters soliciting goodwill adverts.
According to his spokesperson, Gov. Shettima chose to send out the appeal on time knowing that associates who may desire to place congratulatory messages for him may want to contact media houses between Monday and Tuesday to target publication by newspapers or airing by broadcast stations on Wednesday, hence his decision to give enough notice.‎
He also said the governor had already called some particular friends and associates whom he suspected were planning to place adverts and has made the appeal to them directly but felt it was necessary to tell others the governor might not be aware of.
The statement appealed to those willing to place adverts to channel the funds to different private organizations in Abuja and Maiduguri currently seeking funds to support multitudes of internally displaced persons affected by insurgency attacks in Borno and other parts of the northeast.
“Shettima expresses very profound appreciation to anyone, group or institution especially those associated with the APC or Borno State Government that might have intended congratulating him on Wednesday. He pleaded with them to pray for the return of peace in Borno and all parts of Nigeria and for his administration to succeed in its practical efforts to remodel Borno State for the benefit of its citizens under an atmosphere of freedom from terror attacks and any violent or criminal threat”, the statement said.
It also said Mr. Shettima had refused to allow any birthday party from taking place since becoming a governor in 2011, maintaining that he would only celebrate birthday, if necessary at all, when peace is completely restored in all parts of Borno State with affected citizens fully rehabilitated and re-integrated into reconstructed communities.

Presidency Tackles Fayose Over ‘Lopsided Appointments’, Says Gov’s Comment Aimed At Triggering Ethno-Religious Clash

Ayo Fayose-BuhariThe Presidency has responded to Ekiti Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose’s recent criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari’s appointments, saying his outburst was divisive and threatens the unity of the country.
Fayose had in a statement signed by his Special assistant on Public Communication, Lere Olayinka, on Monday, described the actions of the president as the “Nothernisation of Nigeria”, noting that the appointments made by Mr. Buhari so far negated the principle of federal character and had taken the unity of Nigeria for granted.
But Buhari, in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, rebuked Fayose, pointing out that he had been preoccupied with the revival of the economy, securing the nation and ridding it of corruption, therefore, he would not be distracted by unwarranted criticism.
“Nigerians are smarter than Fayose thinks. The Governor’s outbursts are intended to be a trigger for a clash between communities in areas where deliberate attempts had in the past also been made by the PDP to stoke ethnic and religious fault-lines”, he said.
“Our appeal to Nigerians is that they should ignore these tantrums. President Buhari is a healer not a divider”.
Shehu said Nigerians should see the recent appointments as one wave among the many that will come, noting that the next waves would come with thousands of new jobs.
“The President is conscious of the federal character and the requirements of balance in the constitution. He will be guided by the constitution in making his appointments”, Mr. Shehu said.
“Let me say at this stage that mere appeal to ethnic and regional arithmetic will not give back to the PDP what they lost. They seem to be making a dangerous calculation with their recent outbursts.
“The mere appeal to sectional and religious will not give the party its lost relevance or electability”.

Nigerian President or King of the North? by Femi Fani Kayode

As written by Femi Fani Kayode
"In 418 B.C. Herodotus, the Greek philosopher who is known as the ‘’father of history’’, said "a man who does not know anything about the events that took place before he or she was born will remain forever a child.’’ Not only was he right but one must go a step further by saying that those who refuse to learn from their history are condemned to repeating its mistakes.
In 1957, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Saurdana of Sokoto and the Premier of the North, said the following: "We the people of the north will continue our stated intention to conquer the south and to dip the koran in the Atlantic ocean after the British leave our shores."
Three years later, on 12 th October 1960, he went a step further by saying the following words to the Parrot Newspaper: “The new nation called Nigeria should be an estate of our great grandfather Uthman Dan Fodio. We must ruthlessly prevent a change of power. We must use the minorities in the North as willing tools and the South as a conquered territory and never allow them to rule over us and never allow them to have control over their future”.

That same year he said:  "I will allow Sir Tafawa Balewa to go and become Prime Minister and lead the unbelievers of the south whilst I will stay in the north and lead the faithful".

One year later, in a television interview with the BBC (which can still be viewed on Youtube) he was asked whether his ''northernisation policy'' would be a temporary or permanent feature. His response was as follows. ''In actual fact the policy is a northerner first. If you cannot get a northerner then you get an expatriate like yourself on contract. If we cannot get that then we will employ another Nigerian from the south on contract too. This is going to be a permanent policy as far as I forsee''.

Not to be outdone, in January 1947 on the floor of the Northern House of Assembly, Sir Tafawa Balewa, a man that was to become the first Prime Minister of Nigeria 13 years later, said the following words:

“We do not want our Southern neighbours to interfere in our development. We have never associated ourselves with the activities of these people. We do not know them, we do not recognise them, and we share no responsibility in their actions. We shall demand our rights when the time is ripe. If the British quit Nigeria now at this stage, the Northern people would continue their uninterrupted conquest to the sea”.

The passion for the total domination of the Nigerian state by the north has not in any way diminished over the years. As a matter of fact it appears to have become even more pronounced and, for some,  it has become an obsession.  Consider the following.

On 2nd October 2014, one Aliyu Gwarzo said the following to Pointblanknews:

”When I say that the Presidency must come to the north next year I am referring to the Hausa-Fulani core north and not any northern christian or minority tribe. The Christians in the north are nothing and the minorities know that when we are talking about leadership in the north and in Nigeria, Allah has given it to us, the Hausa-Fulani. They owe us everything. This is because we gave them Islam through the great Jihad waged by Sheik Usman Dan Fodio. We liberated all these places and all these people by imposing islam on them by force. It was either the Koran or the sword and most of them chose the Koran. In return for the good works of our forefathers Allah, through the British, gave us Nigeria to rule and to do with as we please. Since 1960 we have been doing that and we intend to continue. No Goodluck or anyone else will stop us from taking back our power next year. We will kill, maim, destroy and turn this country into Africa’s biggest war zone and refugee camp if they try it. Many say we are behind Boko Haram. My answer is what do you expect? We do not have economic power or intellectual power. All we have is political power and they want to take even that from us. If they don’t want an ISIS in Nigeria then they must give us back the Presidency and our political power. Their soldiers are killing our warriors and our people every day but mark this: even if it takes one hundred years we will have our revenge. Every Fulani man that they kill is a debt that will be repaid even if it takes 100 years. The Fulani have very long memories”.

The full text of Gwarzo's contribution can be read on Pointblanknews or elsewhere. His words are self-explanatory and they need no further analysis. Thankfully his views do not represent the thinking of the majority of Hausa Fulani people but he does speak for a dangerous and vocal minority and his words constitute a clear statement of intent. Simply put, it is his desire to conquer and subjugate southern Nigeria and to restore northern domination and supremacy in the affairs of our nation in perpetuity.

The quest for northern domination in the affairs of our country is as old as the hills. It led to a brutal civil war between 1967 and 1970 in which millions were killed. It led to pogrom after pogrom and slaughter after slaughter in the north. It led to a series of military coups and counter coups. In 1991 it led to a coup by Major Gideon Orkar which, if it had been successful, would have resulted in the excision of the core northern states from our country. It led to the annulement of Chief MKO Abiola’s presidential election of June 12th 1993 which almost resulted in a second civil war.

It led to the brutal suppression of the south by General Sani Abacha and the murder, torture, incarceration and exile of many southern leaders. It led to stiff opposition to the government of President Olusegun Obasanjo in the north which came in the guise ''political sharia''.  And finally it led to it’s most barbaric and hideous expression in the relentless opposition to the regime  of President Goodluck Jonathan which came in the form of Boko Haram.

Judging from recent events, with President Buhari now in power it appears that those that have been lusting for total northern domination for the last 55 years have finally had their way.

The inability to think deeply or profoundly is a curse. The inability to read widely and learn from others is a pitiful and costly affliction. If there were ever a time for profound thinking and deep and sober reflection when it comes to the affairs of our nation it is now. I say this because only three months after President Buhari has been sworn into office the power configuration, vis a vis north and south,  has resulted in the following mess.

1. President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria - north. 2.Senate President- north. 3. Speaker of the House of Representatives- north. 4. Chief Justice of the Federation- north. 5. President of the Court of Appeal- north. 6. Chief Justice of the Federal High Court- north. 7. Secretary to the Federal Government- north. 8. Chief of Staff to the President- north. 9. Chief of Army Staff- north. 10. Chief of Air Staff- north. 11. Comptroller General of Customs- north. 12. Director-General of State Security Services (SSS)- north. 13. National Security Advisor- north. 14. Director General NIMASA- north. 15. Chairperson of the Independant Electoral Commission (INEC)- north. 16. Comptroller-General Immigration- north. 17. Accountant-General of the Federation - north. 18. Commander of Civil Defence Corps- north. 19. Chief Security Officer to the President- north. 20. ADC to the President- north. 21. Principal Secretary to the President- north. 22. Senior Special Assistant to the President on media- north. 23. Chairman of the EFCC- north. 24. MD Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA)- north. 25. Head of Service north. 26. DG National Communication Commission (NCC)- north. 27. Chairman NDLEA- north. 28. CEO AMCON- north.

.

There is no gainsaying that this is unacceptable. Some of us warned that this would happen but we were insulted and lampooned for doing so. These appointments are not only lopsided but they are also a manifestation of the fact that in just three months southern Nigeria has finally been relegated to being little more than an occupied region and a vassal state. The people of the south appear to have been placed in servitude and bondage. Our chains may be invisible but they are very much there.

The question must be asked: is Buhari the President of Nigeria or is he the King of the north? Some have argued that the federal character formula has no place in our affairs anymore and that merit ought to be the only criteria for government appointments.  Permit me to qoute a young man from twitter who responded to that absurd logic rather well by saying ‘’if federal character isn't important, why is the Vice President also not from Daura? Educated people should not speak like illiterates’’.

Others have said that we should wait for the ministerial list and that after that things would balance out. Again this is absurd logic and those that spout such convoluted thrash appear to have forgotten the fact that the President is compelled by law and the constitution to appoint a Minister from every state of the federation, including each of the southern states.

Whether he is President of Nigeria or King of the north Buhari would do well to retrace his steps. The consequences of not doing so for both his government and the unity of our country will be grave and costly.  The south cannot be subjugated and treated with contempt and the people of the south will never be slaves. Fairness and equity in the distribution of national resources and key government appointments are a fundamental pre-requisite for peace, security and national unity in our country.

It has served our collective interest well for many years. Those that seek to upset the applecart and jettison it today are not considering the inevitable and monumental consequences of their actions. Power may have returned to the north but the people of the south must be treated with respect, sensitivity, dignity, fairness and decency. Those that refuse to accept this counsel and that insist on charting a different course do so at their own peril.
