Finally, Fatima Jabbe’s long awaited movie, Battered premièred in London on the 28th of September 2013 at the Odeon Cinema in Greenwich, London . As always, Nollywood UK acts turned up in fashionable attires and some not so fashionable.
Battered is a film about domestic violence in the home. Ann(Fatima Jabbe) is a victim of crucial social mechanisms by which women are forced into a subordinate position compared with men. She shot her Fiancé Derek because her heart was full of pains from torture and other cruel, inhumane, degrading treatment and punishment she suffered in the hands of Derek. She narrowly escapes court charges because of an alibi from a friend Tina who was with her on the day of the incident.
The film sees the introduction of footballer John Utaka in his Nollywood debut, other cast members and stars in the film includes Atto Erick, Yvonne Hays, Theodora Ibekwe, Jay One, Marie Gomez, Olivia Eze, Collins Archie Pearce, Happiness, Tim Uche and many more.
The film is directed by the Legendary Lanre Balogun who also played the lead role as Alaba Festus. Official soundtrack is from Cashino NDT, makeup artist is by the one and only Libeks and the cinematography, Editor and associate producer is the visionary Nelson Spyks.
BATTERED premières in Sierra Leone, Gambia, Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa in 2014.
